I requested my twitter archive. The decision to flag mastodon links as unsafe is the final straw. Musk's freedom of speech stops at its first competitor.

Every year brings new web performance optimizations trick, but make sure you stick to the basics first: - server side render / serve static pages - subset fonts - preload key assets - inject critical CSS - reduce JS + defer - use brotli/gzip + H2 - optimize for the user - 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽

I just found myself in an #OSS recursion: - fix the test! - to fix the test, I have to fix the test first! - then fix the test! We've patched vue-styleguidist to support
@aliasesonly to find out that jest does not support aliases itself, so we now have to patch jest ;-) -

Swapping sources / updating the DOM element of a video currently playing will not update playback. I suspect this has to do with delegating playback outside of the browser, but a quick solution is at hand codepen.io/pecus/pen/wvWwvrw

I wrote about keeping a single source of truth with SASS and #VueJS. CSS Custom Props are a modern way to solve this, but there are still a lot of codebases built on SASS. The answer in tech is most likely “yes, it _can_ be done”. Therefore the question should actually almost always be “Should we do this?”. At that point, the answer is most likely “no, you shouldn’t”. There! You just saved everyone tens of hours of useless discussions

I did a perf review on a site and found that the critical CSS was not correctly overridden by the full style sheet, due to the injection ordering. @craftcms is a great, but the {% css %} tag appends styles to the end of the head, and this can ruin the cascade. Always test x2

I might seriously sleep on the balcony tonight. The heat wave makes everything hot and sticky. Sometimes I wish I had built-in fans just like the MBP I use for work: battery will suffer as they’d be running at full speed right now, but at least I would not overheat 🤷🏽♂️

The impact of the layoffs at Mozilla will be felt for many years. DevTools, MDN, browser features: these were the key unique factors driving Firefox ahead. Thanks to everyone that made great work and is going to have to look for another job starting today. 🙏🏼

I've joined Netlify relatively late (user #742,781) but I can't imagine a developer experience that does not include it.
