@innovati @CodePen You’re spot on with being valid CSS: looking forward to Houdini we can expect even more complex syntax to be handled efficiently. The case in point seems to promote st. that while valid requires pre/post-processing and does not solve _per se_ its declared goal. Thus misleading.
